Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act
New rules covering good practice in data security, confidentiality and data protection for NHS patients came into
force in April 2010. This practice follows all of the stated procedures to ensure patient data is held in the correct
Access to data on screen is controlled through the use of passwords. Patient records are held in steel cabinets which are secured
behind lock and key when the premises are not tenanted. Patient records are fully backed up on the internet service of R4 service
The freedom of information act allows access to dental records to the individually concerned. Individual formal identification
is always requested. No patient records are allowed off the premises and all transmission data follow BDA guidelines.
Accessing Your Information
Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you are entitled to access your dental records or any of the personal information
held about you. This information can only be accessed by the individual concerned and formal identification is always
requested. To access your personal dental records please contact reception in person during the practice working hours.

We pride ourselves on the quality of service which we offer to our patients. We follow the National Health Service guidelines
for complaints which cannot be satisfactory resolved in house. Complaints forms can be obtained from the practice manager only
upon contact of the reception during working hours.
